Continuing your Skydiving education

The next step

.
After completing the basic training, the world of skydiving -one of the most dynamic sports in the world- is completely open to you. In this phase after basic training, you will make numerous solo jumps, where the saying “practice makes perfect” also applies to skydiving.

Not only that, the natural tension you experienced earlier gives way to freedom and enjoyment of your jump. You will discover what you can do during a freefall. After completing AFF basic training, you will also be responsible for a number of things. Read more about them below.

On your journey to your A-license

Within skydiving we have a number of licenses and qualifications. With these licenses and authorizations, you demonstrate a level of knowledge and skill. This gives you more and more freedom and responsibilities.

The first thing after your basic course you get to do is your A-license. To get your A-license you will need to do a few practical requirements and a theory test. These requirements must be signed off on a A-license task list and in your logbook. Don’t have the task list yet? Then get it from the manifest or check the website parachute.nl through this link.

Skydive Teuge is happy to help you get started. That’s why we show you the path to your A license below.

As a skydiver at Skydive Teuge, you are registered in the Dropzone-5 manifest system. To be able to jump, you need credit on your account. You can top this up at the manifest or online. Below are a few important tips:

We offer a discount package when you purchase 40 high-altitude jumps directly. This will cost you €900. The jumps in this package can only be used for the jumps you want to make. It is also possible to deposit money into your ‘Wallet’. This balance can be used for:

  • Jumps (for yourself or someone else)
  • Equipment rental
  • Drinks/food at the bar
  • Other purchases

Make sure your personal information remains up to date. Have a new address or a new emergency contact? Then update your details in your online account. Click on this link to go to DZ-5. Here, you can create a new account or log in to your existing account.

Formation instruction jumps 1-on-1

For your A license, you must complete at least 5 formation instruction jumps. In these jumps you learn to jump safely together with other people.

To get you started, Skydive Teuge has developed the 1-on-1 program. After completing this program, you can jump together with other skydivers.

Going through the full program takes an average of 8 to 12 jumps. Skydive Teuge encourages beginning skydivers to complete this program! Hence, you get a discount on the jump price for you and your instructor. This applies to all skydivers with less than 100 jumps and up to max of 10 jumps. See here the most current prices.

Want to start with your 1-om-1 program? Clink here to see a list of all our 1-on-1 instructors. You can start from 20 free fall jumps.

Canopy Control & Target landings

In addition to becoming proficient in freefall, it is tremendous fun to learn to better control your parachute. So for your A license, you have to pass a number of practical requirements related to this.

For example, you have to land a number of times within 15 meters of a target and you have to spend 5 jumps on canopy control.

You can get help with this from the instructional staff of Skydive Teuge. In addition, events focusing on this are regularly organized.

Go to the event kalendar through this link to see when the next Canopy Control-cursus will be.

Packing course

If you hold your A license you may fold your own parachute! This can save a lot of money and it gives a good feeling to know how your equipment is folded.

That’s why Skydive Teuge regularly organizes a folding course. You will learn everything you need to know to fold your own parachute.

For your A license you have to pass the folding test. Here you show one of the instructors that you can fold your parachute yourself. Here you can find the dates of the packing courses.

4

Spotting & Clear and Pull

With “spotting” you check if the airspace is free to jump and if you jump out at the right spot. Although our planes are equipped with the latest GPS devices, it is always wise to check for jumping yourself.

You also have to do a “Clear and Pull” for your A license. This involves jumping out of the plane at a lower altitude and opening your parachute after a short delay.

5

Theory test

An important step in obtaining your A license is completing the theory test. For this test you will learn about important material aspects, meteorology, the Dutch regulations and you will gain general knowledge about the sport of parachuting.

To help you pass this test, you can join a theory evening for example. Do you want to know more about this? Ask someone from the instruction team!
